Films remembered for their music

Some films keep a strong presence in public memory because of their music. The score plays such a strong part in the creation of the film reality that by hearing this music the listener instantly remembers the images and the context of a scene.

Examples are:

Jaws (1975, the base motiv for the shark)

The Third Man (1949, Zitter music)

Once upon a Time in the West (1968, Morricone’s harmonica)

Halloween (1978, John Carpenter’s main theme for Michael Myers)
